Robert Downey, Jr. Is a Black Dude
Four days ago the new trailer for Ben Stiller’s comedy Tropic Thunder surfaced – and it’s funny. Featuring a cast of stars, including Mr. Stiller himself, Robert Downey, Jr, Jack Black, Nick Nolte and Steve Coogan, it has a story not unlike the one in Galaxy Quest. A group of actors are sent to a war zone thinking they’ll make the grandest war movie ever, but they’re soon forced to fight for their lives.
The funniest bit seems to be Mr. Downey, Jr. as a three-time Oscar winner whose latest challenge is – portraying a black man. He has a few outstanding scenes in this clip, but I’m sure Mr. Black will also be worth a look as an intolerable, childish comedian. Mr. Stiller’s films are very uneven and this may be no exception, but let’s hope it is. The movie opens in theaters this summer.
