V Will Return to the Small Screen!
This NBC promo from 1984 for the upcoming V: The Final Battle brings back fond memories of the show that had me and my classmates hooked to the TV screens in the mid-80s. At that time, every production bearing the title of “V” attracted us and we found it hard to separate the good stuff from the poor sequels. Kenneth Johnson created the original V miniseries in 1983, which became a huge hit for NBC and spawned that Final Battle sequel as well as a regular TV series (V) that only ran for one season because it was ridiculous beyond words. Not that my classmates or I recognized that at the time.
There have been plenty of rumors about the possible return of Kenneth Johnson’s creation; in the ’80s the show was terribly expensive, but it wouldn’t be now after the advent of CGI. Now it turns out that ABC seems to own the rights to the concept and that the co-creator of The 4400, Scott Peters, is writing this new take. According to MovieWeb, the new show will focus on what happens when a Homeland Security agent’s son starts hanging with the aliens, but the concept will be pretty similar to the original. Sounds promising.
