Two years ago, 24 won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. The fifth season is still the highlight of the show. One reason is Gregory Itzin’s performance as the complex, rotten President Charles Logan. He made a quick comeback in season six and today we learned that he will return once again in the upcoming eighth season. I’m sure Itzin will deliver; let’s just hope the writers are up to the challenge of finding a new thrilling way to engage Logan. The last time we saw him he had turned into a reformed Christian (even though not even his wife would believe it), and he’s still supposed to live under house arrest.
I was looking for a clip from season five to accompany this entry and came across… something else. This is a videotaped performance of ACME This Week, a sketch show put on by the ACME Comedy Theatre in Hollywood. Itzin was the guest host on February 23, 2008 and the show had a 24 spoof featuring a drunk Jack Bauer. The clip is a must for 24 fans since Itzin is recreating Logan on stage… and is joined by two other regulars from the show. Take a look.
