How Bitter is Dave Letterman?
In a recent blog entry, Time TV blogger Steven James Snyder noted that David Letterman’s animosity toward NBC and Jay Leno is back with a vengeance, which is especially visible in the clip above where the talkshow host meets NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams. Williams, who’s actually very funny and charming, had to put up with Letterman’s bile for quite some time… but still handled it with dignity. The weird thing is that CBS put up this clip on YouTube rather than try to bury it; some of Letterman’s fans may like it, but personally I view it as one of the host’s failures, along the lines of those infamous interviews he made with the late Harvey Pekar.
Hey, Dave. Instead of bringing up your bitter memories of that old feud with Jay Leno, why not take Brian Williams seriously and ask something about current issues?
