Trailers: Moonrise Kingdom, Friends With Kids, Woman in the Fifth, Girl in Progress
Moonrise Kingdom – A new Wes Anderson picture, and by the looks of this trailer every fan should be pleased (and I’m one of them). Bill Murray and Frances McDormand play the parents of two kids who escape a New England island town. Bruce Willis and Edward Norton are also in the cast. U.S. premiere: May 25.
Friends With Kids – This comedy promises to have a ring of truth, as its fist-time director Jennifer Westfeldt based her script on the fact that friends who have kids tend to just disappear. Real-life partner Jon Hamm and real-life friend Adam Scott agreed to play those parts opposite her in the film. U.S. premiere: March 9.
The Woman in the Fifth –This thriller looks like it was directed by Roman Polanski. Starring Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas, it portrays a professor who falls in love with a strange woman. Could work with the right touch; will fail if handled with a journeyman approach. U.S. premiere: TBA.
Girl in Progress – Patricia Riggen, who directed Under the Same Moon (2008), is back with a new movie. This one follows a mother and her daughter and seems to provide Eva Mendes with a good role, for once. It also looks like Cierra Ramirez will be worth a look as her kid. The cast also has Matthew Modine. U.S. premiere: April 27.
