The Sad Return of 'Allo, 'Allo
I didn’t know this, but apparently there was an Allo, ‘Allo reunion on BBC2 April 28th, scripted by co-creator Jeremy Lloyd. It’s been 15 years since the show was canceled, but Gorden Kaye, Sue Hodge, Vicki Michelle, Kirsten Cooke, Guy Siner and Arthur Bostrom were back in Rene’s old café to once again exchange double entendres. This in front of a live audience, as well. Too bad though that many others in the cast were nowhere in sight… and that four of them have passed away (Carmen Silvera, Richard Marner, Rose Hill and Hilary Minster).
Watching this clip, a compilation of sequences from the reunion episode, is fascinating for those of us who loved the show, but I can’t help feeling a little sad as well. With so many key characters missing, one has to ask oneself if it was worth it.
