Battlefield Earth
Prepare for battle.
In the year of 3000, psychlos, members of an evil alien race, have conquered Earth and force humans to mine gold for them. Many thought this space adventure would be propaganda for Scientology considering L. Ron Hubbard and John Travolta’s involvement, but it is primarily just another horribly executed sci-fi flick. The exciting set-up turns into silliness and just flatlines after a while. Travolta, donning an outlandish disguise, seems to have fun as the baddest E.T. in town.
2000-U.S. 117 min. Color. Widescreen. Produced by John Travolta, Jonathan D. Krane, Elie Samaha. Directed by Roger Christian. Novel: L. Ron Hubbard. Cast: John Travolta (Terl), Barry Pepper (Jonnie Tyler), Forest Whitaker (Ker), Kim Coates, Richard Tyson, Sabine Karsenti… Kelly Preston.
Razzie: Worst Film, Director, Actor (Travolta), Actress (Preston), Supporting Actor (Pepper), Screenplay, Screen Couple (Travolta and anyone sharing the screen with him).
