Norbit
Have you ever made a really big mistake?
Norbit, a bullied orphan, is protected by a very large, mean and domineering girl; as adults, they marry but Norbit sees a chance to escape when he meets another childhood friend (Thandie Newton) again. Eddie Murphy was maligned for making this cheap comedy after his Oscar-nominated turn in Dreamgirls (2006). He does work hard though in his three roles, and I did laugh at a few of the shameless fat jokes, but every character is a stereotype and the writing is too sloppy.
2007-U.S. 100 min. Color. Directed by Brian Robbins. Screenplay: Eddie Murphy, Charles Murphy, Jay Scherick, David Ronn. Cast: Eddie Murphy (Norbit/Rasputia/Mr. Wong), Thandie Newton (Kate Thomas), Terry Crews (Big Jack Latimore), Clifton Powell, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Mighty Rasta… Marlon Wayans.
