Sex and the City

Get carried away.

Four years after the show was canceled, the cast got back together for the much-hyped movie to tie up a few loose ends. Carrie and Big decide to get married, Steve betrays Miranda, Samantha is bored and Charlotte’s body surprises her big time. As these crises and joys are experienced over a year, we get to revive the friendship we used to have with these charming women. That ain’t bad. It all begins as shallow, self-centered and materialistic as the episodes used to… but fans know that the story always grows deeper. There’s so much to tell, though, that it goes on forever.

2008-U.S. 145 min. Color. Produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Darren Star, Eric M. Cyphers, Michael Patrick King, John P. Melfi. Written and directed by Michael Patrick King. Cast: Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), Chris Noth, Jennifer Hudson… Candice Bergen.

Quote: “Forty is the last age a woman can be photographed in a wedding dress without the unintended Diane Arbus subtext.” (Ms. Bergen to Ms. Parker)
