Scream 3

The third and final chapter in the trilogy that made you laugh, and made you scream.

Sidney (Neve Campbell) leaves her life in isolation and goes to Hollywood where a new killer terrorizes the cast and crew of “Stab 3”. The third part of the Scream franchise doesn’t have a script by Kevin Williamson, and Wes Craven only agreed to do it as part of a new deal with the studio, so no one’s heart is really in this. Fans will find the usual meta references, jokes and blodletting. Some scenes are effective, and it’s pretty entertaining, but the shocks are mechanical rather than scary and the freshness of the concept is gone.

2000-U.S. 116 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Wes Craven. Cast: David Arquette (Dwight “Dewey” Riley), Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gail Weathers), Patrick Dempsey, Scott Foley, Lance Henriksen… Jenny McCarthy, Parker Posey, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Kennedy, Roger Corman. Cameos: Carrie Fisher, Kevin Smith.

Trivia: Followed by Scream 4 (2011).
