The State Within

A British terrorist on U.S. soil? Nothing is what it seems.

When a passenger plane explodes in Washington, the suicide bomber turns out to be British; U.K. Ambassador Mark Brydon (Jason Isaacs) learns that there’s more behind the attack. A bombastic BBC miniseries made in the style of 24; no one is to be trusted, the government in particular, and evil, powerful white people will kill anyone who figures out that the Muslim “terrorist” is innocent. It’s a convoluted story that tries to make the work of an embassy look cooler than it is; plenty of surprises along the way (there’s even a gay romance) make this an exciting thriller. And amusing – this is one instance where the Brits show the Yanks how to deal with international crises.
