Step Brothers
They grow up so fast.
When Nancy (Mary Steenburgen) and Robert (Richard Jenkins) get married, their 40-year-old, terminally childish sons (Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly) instantly hate each other’s guts. The director and stars of Talladega Nights (2006) reportedly came up with the idea for this film while having dinner, and it shows. There’s not much of a story, barely any real jokes, just one loud scene after another where Ferrell and Reilly behave as obnoxiously as possible. Jenkins and Steenburgen try to add some warmth.
2008-U.S. 100 min. Color. Widescreen. Produced by Judd Apatow, Jimmy Miller. Directed by Adam McKay. Screenplay: Will Ferrell, Adam McKay. Cast: Will Ferrell (Brennan Huff), John C. Reilly (Dale Doback), Mary Steenburgen (Nancy Huff), Richard Jenkins, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn… Seth Rogen.
