Envy
Success didn’t go to his head, it went to his neighbor.
Nick Vanderpark (Jack Black) invents the Vapoorizer, a spray that makes dog poo vanish into thin air, and makes a fortune; Tim Dingman (Ben Stiller), his best friend and neighbor, is consumed with envy. Another really bad comedy from Barry Levinson, who should know better. The concept has potential, but there are no laughs and the filmmakers have made strange decisions; we could have done without the subplot about the dead horse. Stiller and Black’s characters are very annoying.
2004-U.S. 99 min. Color. Produced by Barry Levinson, Paula Weinstein. Directed by Barry Levinson. Cast: Ben Stiller (Tim Dingman), Jack Black (Nick Vanderpark), Rachel Weisz (Debbie Dingman), Christopher Walken, Amy Poehler.
