When Peter got dumped by his girlfriend, he wanted to get as far away as possible. Apparently… so did she.
TV star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell) breaks up with her boyfriend (Jason Segel) who is devastated; he goes to Hawaii to lick his wounds… but immediately runs into Sarah, who has a new boyfriend. How I Met Your Mother star Segel took some of his own experiences from previous relationships and wrote a funny script that first-time director Nicholas Stoller has turned into a crowd-pleasing, raunchy movie in producer Judd Apatow’s taste. Segel certainly proves that he can carry a movie; he’s both warm and hilarious, and ably supported by his women, Bell and Mila Kunis. The film successfully avoids being mean-spirited (and overlong like Apatow’s flicks).
2008-U.S. 110 min. Color. Produced by Judd Apatow, Shauna Robertson. Directed by Nicholas Stoller. Screenplay: Jason Segel. Cast: Jason Segel (Peter Bretter), Mila Kunis (Rachel Jansen), Kristen Bell (Sarah Marshall), Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Russell Brand… William Baldwin, Jason Bateman.
