The Heartbreak Kid

He waited all his life to get married. Too bad he didn’t wait another week.

Eddie (Ben Stiller) marries Lila (Malin Åkerman) after dating her for only six weeks; their honeymoon is spent in Cabo where Lila turns out to be a nightmare… and Eddie meets another attractive woman (Michelle Monaghan). The Farrelly brothers take on a Neil Simon original (released in 1972); interesting to note how their movies are increasingly emphasizing warmth over cheap sex jokes, but this film nevertheless has plenty of bite and a few very funny, raunchy scenes. The characters may be cartoonish, but Stiller is perfect and gets along very well with his dad; Åkerman is hilarious in her lead debut.
