Drag Me to Hell

Christine Brown has a good job, a great boyfriend, and a bright future. But in three days, she’s going to hell.

When bank loan officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) denies an old gypsy woman (Lorna Raver) another extension on her loan, she is cursed; unless she finds a way to rid her demons she will go to hell. This old-fashioned horror movie is director Sam Raimi’s return to the genre after sweating over three Spider-Man flicks. Very tongue-in-cheek in style, it is obvious that the cast and crew have had fun. A mixture of shocks, laughs and outrageous splatter movie effects, the movie’s technical efforts are obviously more lovingly crafted than the script. Raver is terrific as the old lady who will haunt anyone who has “shamed” her.
