Inglorious Bastards
Whatever the Dirty Dozen did they do it dirtier!
In WWII France, a group of U.S. soldiers are headed for military prison, but they escape and eventually get a chance to redeem themselves during a mission. The film that partly inspired Quentin Tarantinos Inglourious Basterds (2009) has little in common with that “remake”. This is a simple, low-budget war movie with a few amusing touches (such as naked women firing automatic weapons), the expected awful performances and a very standard story.
1978-Italy. 100 min. Color. Directed by Enzo G. Castellari. Cast: Ian Bannen (Charles Buckner), Bo Svenson (Robert Yeager), Fred Williamson (Fred Canfield), Peter Hooten, Michael Pergolani.
Trivia: Original title: Quel maledetto treno blindato. Alternative titles: Counterfeit Commandos, G.I. Bro, Deadly Mission and Hell’s Heroes.
