Inspector Clouseau
Inspector Clouseau (Alan Arkin) arrives in Britain to assist Scotland Yard, but becomes the center of a crime wave seemingly perpetrated by several identical Clouseaus. When Blake Edwards, Peter Sellers and Henry Mancini were unavailable for a third Pink Panther movie, the studio unwisely decided to go ahead anyway. The result is tragic. Arkin is completely wrong as Clouseau, the slapstick is uninspired and director Bud Yorkin simply doesn’t have Edwards’s touch.
1968-U.S. 94 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Bud Yorkin. Cast: Alan Arkin (Jacques Clouseau), Delia Boccardo (Lisa Morrel), Frank Finlay (Weaver), Patrick Cargill, Beryl Reid, Barry Foster.
Trivia: In the fourth movie, The Return of the Pink Panther (1975), the original gang reunited.
