An American Werewolf in Paris

Things are about to get a little hairy.

When Andy McDermott (Tom Everett Scott) and his two buddies stop a French girl (Julie Delpy) from throwing herself off of the Eiffel Tower, they have no idea what kind of secret she harbors. This sequel to An American Werewolf in London (1981) makes you wonder if the filmmakers actually saw that movie because their version is tone-deaf. The blend of comedy and horror misses the mark thanks to childish jokes and CGI lycanthropes that look a lot less scary than Rick Baker’s original creations.

1997-U.S.-Britain-Luxembourg-The Netherlands-France. 97 min. Color. Directed by Anthony Waller. Cast: Tom Everett Scott (Andy McDermott), Julie Delpy (Serafine Pigot), Vince Vieluf (Brad), Phil Buckman, Julie Bowen, Pierre Cosso.

One and a half stars
