Unstoppable

1 million tons of steel. 100,000 lives at stake. 100 minutes to impact.

When an unmanned freight train speeds off at full power, an engineer and a conductor (Denzel Washington, Chris Pine) on a different locomotive try to stop it. Another Tony Scott action thriller starring Washington, their best since Crimson Tide (1995). This one was based on a real 2001 incident and has no villains and very little bloodshed, refreshingly enough. What it does have is a thrilling scenario reminiscent of Speed (1994) that maintains some amount of credibility throughout. Intense, fast-paced (with well-crafted action scenes), the movie also has likable performances by the two leads as working-class heroes.
