Little Indian, Big City
The City Is A Jungle. Some Are Just Better Prepared For It Than Others.
Businessman Lhermitte goes to the Amazon to make his wife sign divorce papers. She introduces him to their young son who follows him back to Paris. This much maligned children’s movie has an occasionally sweet story about a boy’s encounter with an urban world he knows nothing about. But there are few laughs (we need Lhermitte’s character to be funnier than he is) and some of the ingredients are just silly. Mimi Siku’s Paris adventure is also energetic to a fault.
1994-France. 90 min. Color. Produced by Louis Becker, Thierry Lhermitte. Directed by Hervé Palud. Cast: Thierry Lhermitte (Stéphane Marchado), Ludwig Briand (Mimi Siku), Patrick Timsit (Richard), Arielle Dombasle, Miou-Miou.
Trivia: Remade in the U.S. as Jungle 2 Jungle (1997).
