Vegas Vacation

This time the Griswolds are on a roll.

The Griswolds go to Las Vegas on vacation, but Clark and Ellen’s (Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo) marriage hits a few bumps and cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) shows up to cause trouble. This fourth part in the series acts as if nothing has changed since the 1980s; the same kind of cheap sex jokes dominate. Everybody in the family is seduced by Vegas, but nothing is really funny and the actors can’t shake this film out of its predictability. Quaid however is a ray of light and it’s nice to see Christie Brinkley from the first film again.

1997-U.S. 95 min. Color. Directed by Stephen Kessler. Cast: Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold), Beverly D’Angelo (Ellen Griswold), Randy Quaid (Eddie), Ethan Embry, Marisol Nichols, Miriam Flynn… Siegfried & Roy, Sid Caesar, Christie Brinkley.

Quote: “I haven’t seen a beatin’ like that since somebody stuck a banana in my pants and turned a monkey loose.” (Quaid)
