What About Bob?

Bob’s a special kind of friend. The kind that drives you crazy!

The day before his vacation starts, psychiatrist Dreyfuss agrees to see a new patient (Murray), but doesn’t realize that he is the beginning to the end of his career. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Mr. Dreyfuss can be very funny. He’s perfect in this well-made comedy as a shrink who is so full of himself he could explode any minute. Matching him with Mr. Murray, who is also wonderful as the cheerfully annoying Bob, is as much a strength in the film as the script. Things spin out of control in the end, but not too much, and there is warmth in the portrayal of Bob and the Doc’s family.

1991-U.S. 100 min. Color. Directed by Frank Oz. Cast: Bill Murray (Bob Wiley), Richard Dreyfuss (Leo Marvin), Julie Hagerty (Fay Marvin), Charlie Korsmo, Kathryn Erbe, Tom Aldredge.

Trivia: Woody Allen was allegedly considered for the part of Leo.
